TOMZON A24 Mini Drone for Kids: A Fun and Durable Entry-Level Drone
The TOMZON A24 Mini Drone is a fantastic entry-level drone designed specifically for kids and beginners. Packed with features like battle mode, throw-to-go functionality, altitude hold, and 3D flips, this drone promises hours of fun for both kids and adults. With its sturdy build, easy-to-use controls, and infrared battle mode, it’s no wonder this drone has become a favorite among families. But is it worth the hype? Let’s dive into the details based on real customer experiences.
Pros and Cons of the TOMZON A24 Mini Drone
1. Durability and Build Quality
One of the standout features of the TOMZON A24 is its durability. Many customers, including kids, have praised its ability to withstand crashes and collisions. The drone comes with a protective plastic dome around the blades, which not only safeguards the propellers but also ensures the drone remains intact even after hitting walls or getting stuck in tight spaces.
Customer Feedback:
- "Every single time I’ve smacked it on a wall or it got stuck in a crevasse, it always survived and took no damage whatsoever."
- "It has crashed a lot and still works great."
However, some users noted that full-speed collisions can crack the wings, so it’s best to avoid high-speed impacts.
2. Ease of Use and Controls
The TOMZON A24 is designed with beginners in mind. It features one-key sync, one-key takeoff/landing, and headless mode, making it incredibly easy for kids and first-time users to operate. The multi-button remote control is intuitive, with dedicated buttons for functions like 3D flips, speed adjustment, and emergency stops.
Customer Feedback:
- "The guide did a really good job of explaining how the drone works. I was flying it within minutes."
- "It’s very easy to assemble and learn how to play. Even my 10-year-old picked it up quickly."
That said, some users found the controls a bit tricky to master, especially when flying multiple drones simultaneously. Interference issues were reported when flying more than 3-6 drones at once.
3. Battery Life and Flight Time
The drone comes with 4 modular batteries, which collectively provide up to 32 minutes of flight time. While this sounds impressive, many users reported that the actual flight time per battery is closer to 5-8 minutes, falling short of the advertised duration.
Customer Feedback:
- "The battery life needs improvement. It lasts about 20-30 minutes at most with all 4 batteries."
- "Even with the most generous calculation, they fall short by nearly 50%."
On the bright side, the modular battery design makes it easy to swap batteries, and the included charger ensures you can keep the fun going.
4. Fun Features and Battle Mode
The infrared battle mode is a highlight of this drone. It allows two players to engage in a friendly drone battle, with simulated shooting sounds and effects. The attacked drone will shake and slowly land, adding an exciting competitive element to the experience.
Customer Feedback:
- "The battle mode is so much fun! My son and I have been battling every evening."
- "It’s a cool concept to have drones fight each other. We were laughing our heads off!"
Additionally, the drone can perform 3D flips, circle fly, and high-speed rotations, making it versatile and entertaining for both beginners and skilled players.
5. Indoor vs. Outdoor Use
The TOMZON A24 is primarily designed for indoor use. Its lightweight build and small size make it perfect for flying around the house. However, some users reported issues when flying it outdoors, such as losing control or the drone flying away.
Customer Feedback:
- "It’s great for indoor use, but I wouldn’t recommend flying it outside. It’s too easy to lose."
- "I lost two drones when they flew out the window. Stick to indoor play."
Final Verdict
The TOMZON A24 Mini Drone is an excellent choice for kids and beginners looking for an affordable, durable, and fun drone. Its easy-to-use controls, battle mode, and sturdy build make it a hit among families. However, the short battery life and limited outdoor usability are areas where it could improve.
Who Should Buy It?
- Families looking for a fun, interactive toy for kids.
- Beginners who want to learn drone flying without breaking the bank.
- Anyone who enjoys indoor drone battles and tricks.
Who Might Want to Look Elsewhere?
- Advanced users seeking longer flight times and outdoor capabilities.
- Those planning to fly multiple drones simultaneously (due to interference issues).
Overall, the TOMZON A24 offers great value for money and is a fantastic gift for kids and drone enthusiasts alike. Just keep it indoors, and you’re guaranteed hours of fun!

Comments from Amazon:
My son wrote the review below, he loves the drone so much. "After testing these drones many times, I have seen many great things about this product, its durability, it's easy to control, and many other great things. I will talk about why these make this product so great because honestly, the few days i have tested it, i loved using it and had lots of fun with it. I think other people will love this product too. So here's my take on this product. Firstly, i think the protection on this thing is mind blowing, when i first got this product, i thought the moment it would hit a wall, it would break, but no, every single time i have smacked it on a wall, or it got stuck in a crevasse, it always survived and took no damage whatsoever. I think whoever built his product did a great job protecting the blades. They added a plastic dome around the blades, these plastic domes did not affect the drones flying ability, and it protected the blades really well, And the fact they gave me extra blades was great. I think they did a great job on protecting the drone in many ways, and this drone will probably last you a long time. Second, this drone is really easy to assemble and learn how to play. In the guide I think they did a really good job of explaining how the drone works, and how to fly it. The guide also did a good job explaining the special buttons on the controller. There are 8 special buttons for the drone, there is a button for adjusting the speed, landing your drone, reversing your controls, an emergency stop button, a button to flip your drone, a spinning button, and a hovering button. Now there's one last one, and this one i want to explain a little bit, it's the firing button. Now on the drone there is a white light on the front and a red light on the back, you always want the red light facing you to control the drone better (just saying), the white light is the “gun”, you can use it to fire at other drones and “kill them”, it’s a really cool way of using drones to fight other drones, and i think that's a cool concept they added to the drone. I think that the creators did a great job of making it easy to use the drone, and did a great job with the special buttons, like the flip button and the firing button for the “gun”. Lastly, I want to talk about its battery life, because I think the battery life needs a little improvement. On average the battery life lasts from about 20-30 minutes at most, and I think that is too little for a drone like this, but they do give you four batteries to make up for this. So i think if they want to improve the drone, i think they should improve the battery life so it lasts longer, so that way people don’t have to change its battery every 20-30 minutes. So in conclusion, this product has amazed me a lot, from its durability to its fantastic guide. I think the creators of this product really put a lot of effort into the drone, but in the future, they should improve the battery life. But this is just my opinion, if you do buy this drone, i hope you have a good time having fun with it, cause i did."
I have had drones for years, can fly them about "meh" good, but have always had an affinity for tiny whoops. When I found this set, I jumped at it because it is really inexpensive for what you get. Now, these aren't 'real' tiny whoops, and some may call them toys, they are toys, but they check every box in the fun category. I originally planned to just use the two batteries per drone as practice, then I started flying all 4 batteries during practice. I was having fun. I thought. But when my buddy came over, things went a little sideways. It cannot be stated enough, these are durable little drones. They are also super easy to fly, and fly for a really long time on those tiny batteries! Playing with someone else is where the fun happens. My buddy and I were laughing our you know what's off trying to "shoot down" each other while missing terribly, only one of us kinda knew how to fly, then both of us crashing frequently, then within maybe 15 minutes, we were spinning, chasing, orbiting, retreating, we were flying our hearts out! Worth every penny. I'll be getting more of these for when people start looking bored.
It flies if you can get a propeller that can stay on the motor. I had to tried a bunch of them to find one that is tight enough. If you bun into the wall at full speed, it will crack the wings. So all in all, it works, but needs to be really careful. Also should only play in door, very easy to lose outdoors.
They are a little tricky to control but we are pleased overall!
My 10 year old and his dad love this It has crashed a lot and works great Very smooth flight Love that son and dad battle each other every evening. It goes pretty high Still looking for a negative Tip watch out when flying it in high places it could get stuck there.
I bought 8 of these for my classroom. On the positive they fly fairly stable when they work and their controls translate directly well to many larger, more expensive drones by DJI. They can take a beating and crash all day, however hair will get caught in the props and bind it. That's where the positives end. Although the flight time is better than expected, it is no where near the advertised 32 minutes. Even with the most generous calculation of 8 minutes each battery x4 for 32, they fall short by nearly 50% only staying up in one spot for about 5 minutes before needing to charge. Once they are dead, they take nearly an hour to charge up to full so if I wanted to use these, I would need many more batteries and chargers which I'll consider if I can't find an alternative. The worse part is I tried to fly 8 of these at once and there is some interference in controls, they lose their trim and gryo like crazy and some keep flying up and up and up. I would return them If I didn't damage them already but I've already lost 3 drones, one flew onto the roof and two flew out the window to never be seen again. **Update** The company has reached out and have replaced the missing drones. Although they have clarified that these drones can only be flown 3 at a time yet I find 6 to be the max number of these flying indoors.
Awesome value for the money. Fun little drones!
