Geneinno S1 Titan Underwater Drone: A Deep Dive into Its Features and Performance

150M Tether Titan Professional Underwater Drone ROV AUV Robot with 4K UHD Action Camera Remote Control Real-time Steaming Undersea Detection for Viewing, Recording, Fishing, Salvage Work (150M Titan)

The Geneinno S1 Titan Underwater Drone is a cutting-edge underwater ROV (Remotely Operated Vehicle) designed for enthusiasts and professionals alike. With a maximum diving depth of 150 meters (492 feet), this drone is equipped with a 4K UHD camera, six thrusters for precise movement, and a robust build that can withstand harsh underwater conditions. Whether you're into underwater exploration, fishing, salvage work, or simply capturing stunning underwater footage, the Titan promises to deliver.

But does it live up to the hype? Let’s dive into the pros and cons based on real customer experiences.

Pros and Cons: What Customers Are Saying

Build Quality and Durability

The Geneinno Titan is often praised for its solid construction. Many users describe it as a "tank" due to its rugged and durable design. One reviewer mentioned, "The hardware is very solid, very well built, and rugged. I've taken it down past 260 feet so far, and no problems."

However, not all experiences are positive. Some users have reported issues with the drone's reliability over time. One frustrated customer shared, "I've had my drone for over 2 years and have less than 12 hours on it. It is a colossal piece of unreliable junk." Issues like stripped screws, clogged propellers, and connectivity problems have been cited as major drawbacks.

Performance and Usability

The Titan’s performance underwater is a mixed bag. On one hand, users appreciate its ability to dive deep and maintain stability. A satisfied customer noted, "I love the auto depth feature where it keeps itself at the depth you want. The batteries last a long time."

On the other hand, some users find the drone’s stability and control to be lacking. One reviewer pointed out, "To call it an 'underwater drone' is a little facetious. It has a tether, and stability is only so-so." Additionally, the lag in streaming video has been a common complaint, with users hoping for improvements in the app’s performance.

Camera and Image Quality

The 4K UHD camera is one of the Titan’s standout features. Users have praised the image quality, with one stating, "The image quality is good, and it can take very clear pictures." The 160° wide-angle lens and professional DSP image processor ensure that underwater scenes are captured in stunning detail.

However, the app’s user interface for accessing and managing images has been criticized. One user suggested, "Make the UX for accessing the images and video better/more obvious. I would like to see actual thumbnails from pictures and videos vs. static squares."

Customer Support and Updates

Geneinno has received mixed reviews for its customer support. While some users appreciate the company’s responsiveness and willingness to address issues, others have had less positive experiences. One reviewer shared, "The company has been very responsive to fixing issues. They have taken feedback well and improved the product over time."

Conversely, another user expressed frustration, stating, "The only response from support was to buy another relay." This inconsistency in customer service has left some users feeling dissatisfied.

Conclusion: Is the Geneinno S1 Titan Worth It?

The Geneinno S1 Titan Underwater Drone is a powerful tool for underwater exploration, offering impressive features like a 4K UHD camera, deep diving capabilities, and a durable build. For those who prioritize depth and image quality, this drone is a solid choice.

However, it’s not without its flaws. Issues with reliability, app performance, and customer support have been significant pain points for some users. If you’re willing to invest time in troubleshooting and adapting to its quirks, the Titan can be a rewarding purchase.

Final Verdict:

  • Pros: Deep diving capability, excellent image quality, rugged build, and responsive customer support (for some).
  • Cons: Reliability issues, laggy video streaming, and inconsistent customer service.

If you’re an underwater enthusiast looking for a high-performance ROV and are prepared to handle its shortcomings, the Geneinno S1 Titan is worth considering. However, if you’re seeking a hassle-free experience, you might want to explore other options.

Works exactly as described and as expected

Excellent underwater ROV. Works exactly as described and as expected. Hardware is very solid, very well built, and rugged. Easy to learn to use and control. I've taken it down past 260 feet so far and no problems. Wish there was less lag time in the streaming video, so I hope they continue work on the iPad and iPhone control app. I also bought the grappling arm. Easy to install and works well.

It is a colossal piece of unreliable junk

I've had my drone for over 2 years and have less than 12 hours on it. It is a colossal piece of unreliable junk. Here are a few of the issues I have had: Vendor provided wrong size screws for the robotic arm. As a result, threading stripped and arm won't stay secure. DHCP on the wireless relay stopped working entirely (even after a reset) If you attempt to put it in the ocean the drone propellers will immediately get clogged by seashells and stop working. Once this happens you must swim to get the drone as it won't propel itself back with jammed props. As I write this, the SSID no longer broadcasts so I am unable to connect at all. The only response from support was to buy another relay. I have less than 12 hours on the drone because it has never worked reliably well. As it stands today, I have a $4k paper weight due to the issue with SSID.

The company has been very responsive to fixing issues

Several Updates over time have made this a much better drone than before. The company has been very responsive to fixing issues. If you've read this post before, read it now with the latest updates as of Oct 15/2019. LATEST UPDATE (10/15) ** iOS App update fixed some major issues! You can now easily download images and videos to your phone in the app. This was a problem before, and is now resolved. ** You can easily delete images off the drone via your iOS device ** The images can be saved with or without the data overlay, great improvement. The result of these recent fixes make this a very solid underwater drone, and certainly one of the best built out there. It is capable of depths much greater than many others, and you can tell by lifting it that it was designed for harsh environments. It is a tank! The other thing that is amazing is the whole case setup. The case is very well designed, and holds all the equipment. (See pics) The image quality is good and it can take very clear pictures. (See attached) My list of feature requests for the team now are: 1. Have a map view so I can see where I am from where I started. Easy to get lost. 2. Wifi feed is a little jerky sometimes - I'd like it to be as smooth as my DJI feed 3. Make the UX for accessing the images and video better/more obvious. Rather than hiding it in the sub-menu for operating the drone, (which took me a while to find) I would suggest adding it to the main screen, and not on the screen used to run the drone. I would also like to see actual thumbnails from pictures and videos vs. static squares. (It looks like that is the idea, but perhaps not fully implemented.) Also for the local to the drone vs local to the device sections, don't use fake placeholder images. These confuse me into thinking that I took the pictures, when I did not. Just a view that shows 'Onboard Drone' and 'Phone Storage' would be easier to understand. 4. Create a setting to fly 1’ (or whatever distance) off the bottom and adjust depth as you move around. 5. Return home command 6. Have a handle or strap to lower into the water. Using the cable seems like a bad idea. I will probably build my own in the meantime. Notes: - The company has been responsive to my input, which shows they care about building a superior product! They have taken feedback well, and through software will be able to improve over time. - This is a very well built system! Very tight and sturdy! I have seen others which are not. - if you want deep water access, this is your best choice!

We located a virgin shipwreck in 200 feet of water and explored it with this Rov and it works great

I have used this Rov this summer numerous times at depths of 200 feet +. We located a virgin shipwreck in 200 feet of water and explored it with this Rov and it works great. I love the auto depth where it keeps it self at the depth you want. The batteries last a long time. Real Happy with it!!

 Takes great video

Awesome machine. Takes great video

 Absolute garbage

Broke the 3rd time it was used. Absolute garbage. Amazon should be ashamed for selling this rubbish on their site.

However, these problems cannot be resolved with double the money, so I’d say the Geneinno Titan is good value

To call it an “underwater drone” is a little facetious, I mean, it has a tether and stability is only so-so. However, these problems cannot be resolved with double the money, so I’d say the Geneinno Titan is good value. Compared to its competitors, it’s certainly superior in that there appears to be a legitimate attempt at active stabilization - it works at least some of the time. Can’t quite shake the “best product forever glorious people’s republic” feel, but it seems to hold up well when banged around (which yours will be, with use). Time will tell whether or not it holds up to corrosion... I see a lot of brass/stainless/powder coated steel mix here..
