But does it live up to the hype? Let’s dive into the pros and cons based on real customer experiences.

Pros: What Customers Love

1. Great for Beginners

Many users praised the WAKTUK drone for its beginner-friendly features. One reviewer mentioned, "This drone has been an absolute blast! As beginners, my son and I were looking for something easy to control but still packed with features, and this drone delivered on all fronts." The automatic take-off and landing feature, in particular, was a hit, making it easy for new pilots to get started without worrying about rough landings.

2. Impressive Camera Quality

The 4K HD camera with image stabilization technology received positive feedback. Customers appreciated the sharp visuals and smooth FPV transmission, which allowed them to capture stunning aerial photos and videos. One user shared, "The camera quality is surprisingly good for the price, with dual cameras that capture clear photos and video from different angles."

3. Durable and Portable Design

The foldable design and included carrying case make this drone highly portable. Additionally, the brushless motor ensures a longer lifespan and more stable flights compared to brushed models. One reviewer noted, "It’s durable too—we’ve had a few crashes and it held up well."

4. Extra Batteries and Flight Time

The inclusion of two modular Li-Po batteries, offering up to 36 minutes of flight time, was a standout feature for many users. "The extra batteries that come with it are a lifesaver," said one customer. This extended flight time allows for longer, uninterrupted flying sessions.

5. Excellent Customer Support

Cons: Areas for Improvement

1. Challenging Setup and Controls

While the drone is marketed as beginner-friendly, some users found the setup and controls to be less intuitive. One reviewer admitted, "The drone's controls are a bit less easy, and I still haven’t quite got the hang of it." Another user mentioned, "I bought this for my teenage grandson, and it was too hard for him to set up."

2. Flimsy Build Quality

A few customers expressed concerns about the drone’s durability. One user stated, "It feels cheap and flimsy, and I am sure it would break the first time you hit something." Another reviewer shared a disappointing experience: "The second time I took it out, it malfunctioned and kept climbing until I lost sight of it. The wind caught it, and I never found it again."

3. Generic and Clunky App

The mobile app used to control the drone received mixed reviews. One user described it as "generic and clunky," adding that it took some tweaking to get everything working correctly. Another reviewer had a particularly frustrating experience: "The app is one of the weakest links in the entire setup. During my initial tests, I lost control over the drone, and it went completely rogue, crashing into my TV and a hanging plant."

4. Limited Indoor Performance

Some users found the drone less responsive when flown indoors. One reviewer cautioned, "My testing of the drone inside left me a bit concerned over its responsiveness. I’m cautious and haven’t taken it outside yet for additional testing."

Final Verdict

The WAKTUK 4K Drone with Camera is a mixed bag. On one hand, it offers impressive features like a 4K camera, brushless motor, and beginner-friendly controls, making it a great choice for those new to drones. The extended flight time, durable design, and excellent customer support further enhance its appeal.

On the other hand, the challenging setup, flimsy build quality, and clunky app can be frustrating for some users. Additionally, its performance indoors may not meet expectations, and there are occasional reports of malfunctions.

Really great to learn drones on and amazing for the price

Seemingly great product thus far. Really great to learn drones on and amazing for the price

I bought this for my teenage grandson & it was too hard for him to set up

However, the drone's controls are a bit less easy and I still haven't quite got the hang of it, and I need to practise using it outside in a larger space

I've used this drone a few times and the pros are the extra batteries that come with it, plus an altitude sensor to help you fly indoors. However, the drone's controls are a bit less easy and I still haven't quite got the hang of it, and I need to practise using it outside in a larger space. You can use a remote control to control this drone, or you can use a mobile app to do so

Wouldn't recommend for a beginner as they are guaranteed to run in to something while learning

It feels cheap and flimsy and I am sure would break the first time you hit something. Wouldn't recommend for a beginner as they are guaranteed to run in to something while learning.

The wind caught it and started blowing it away towards a wooded area

The second time I took it out, it malfunctioned and kept climbing until I lost sight of it. The wind caught it and started blowing it away towards a wooded area. Never was able to catch sight of it again. I searched for a while trying to reconnect to if but gave up. Poor quality and a waste of money for me. You get what you pay for!

It’s lightweight, quick to charge, and we were flying outside in no time

This drone has been an absolute blast! As beginners, my son and I were looking for something that was easy to control but still packed with features, and this drone delivered on all fronts. It’s lightweight, quick to charge, and we were flying outside in no time. One of the best features is the automatic take-off and landing. With just a press of a button, the drone takes off smoothly to about 5 feet and lands just as easily. This feature made it super simple for us to get the hang of flying without worrying about rough landings. It also has three speed modes, and the high speed is fast enough to keep things exciting! The camera quality is surprisingly good for the price, with dual cameras that capture clear photos and video from different angles. We’ve gotten some great shots to share with family and friends. The obstacle avoidance works most of the time, but we did have a few bumps—nothing was damaged, though, and the drone kept flying. The included case for storage and transport is a nice touch, and the extra propellers are a bonus. It’s durable too—we’ve had a few crashes and it held up well. The customer service was also excellent. When I had trouble connecting my phone to the Wi-Fi, they quickly responded with a video to help me fix it, and it worked like a charm. Overall, this drone is tons of fun and offers great value for the price. Whether you’re buying it as a gift or for yourself, you’ll definitely enjoy flying it. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a beginner-friendly drone with cool features!

First, I like the product build

This is a nice drone for beginners, but it does have a few issues. First, I like the product build. The drone comes with a nice little case for storage and carrying. It comes with all the necessary components, sans a phone. But in my experienced, the app used for this drone, is a generic off the shelf "drone app", which is one of the weakest links in the entire set up IMHO. It works, but it's clunky and takes a bit of tweaking to get everything working together correctly. I've not yet had the opportunity to test the drone outside. I live in a suburb of a major city, and my testing of the drone inside left me a bit concerned over the responsiveness of the drone, so I'm cautious and haven't taken it outside yet for additional testing. This isn't my first drone, but it is the biggest one I've attempted to operate. So far, I've not had much success with my testing of this drone inside. During my initial tests (inside my home), I lost control over the drone and it went completely rouge and crashed into my 77" OLED $4800 TV to my disgust and dismay! I was able to buff out the scratches on the screen, but it did a number on the TV before falling to the ground. I then attempted to turn off and disable the drone, first via the app/joystick, but it wouldn't respond to any input, and was operating completely rouge and out of control... It kept trying to take off again, while I was trying to disable/stop the thing in its tracks to prevent more damage. It ended up getting airborne again, this time slamming into a hanging plant and cutting off several of the long vines that were hanging from the plant with a clean swipe of the blades... Eventually, I was able to corner the drone (still trying to fly), and the only way I was capable of stopping the carnage was by literary stomping on the drone!! Needless to say, the entire experience was not a good one; with minor damage to my TV and a hanging plant... So, additional testing is out of the question until I can take the drone to a more secure/safer outside area... Out of the box, the drone itself, seems to come with all the necessary components for a drone (again, sans the phone, which you will provide.) It's the app that really falls short... It's generic and is used among many brands of drones on the market. So, your mileage may vary. Overall, I'm torn regarding how I feel about this little drone. It seems to have all the bells and whistles, but my experience with it so far has been a bit problematic, which could just be "user error" - so I'm torn as to how I feel about this drone and if I would recommend it to family and friends.
