Flight Time and Battery Life

One of the standout features of the LYOOGO S50 is its dual-battery setup, which provides an impressive flight time. While the advertised 50-55 minutes might be a bit optimistic, users report getting around 40 minutes of flight time, which is still excellent for a drone in this price range.

Pros:

  • Dual batteries extend flying sessions.
  • Low battery indicator helps avoid losing the drone.
  • Overcharge protection ensures safety.

Cons:

  • Some users received faulty batteries that wouldn’t charge.
  • Real-world flight time is slightly less than advertised.

Camera Quality

The 1080P HD camera is a highlight for many users, especially beginners and casual flyers. While it may not compete with high-end drones like the DJI Mavic series, it delivers decent image and video quality for its price.

Pros:

  • Good video and photo quality for casual use.
  • 90° adjustable camera allows for versatile shooting angles.
  • Gesture control makes capturing moments fun and easy.

Cons:

  • Video latency can make real-time navigation challenging.
  • Lack of advanced stabilization means footage can be shaky.

Ease of Use and Beginner-Friendliness

The LYOOGO S50 is designed with beginners in mind, offering features like Headless Mode, Optical Positioning, and one-button takeoff/landing. These features make it easy for new pilots to get started.

Pros:

  • Beginner-friendly controls and features.
  • Three adjustable speed modes cater to different skill levels.
  • Comes with a carrying case for easy transport.

Cons:

  • Some users found the drone unstable in windy conditions.
  • Requires constant fine-tuning to maintain stability.

Durability and Build Quality

The drone’s brushless motor not only ensures efficient performance but also contributes to its durability. Many users praised its ability to withstand minor crashes and bumps.

Pros:

  • Brushless motor provides stable and efficient flights.
  • Lightweight yet sturdy build.
  • Survives minor crashes, making it great for beginners.

Cons:

  • Lacks obstacle avoidance, increasing the risk of collisions.
  • Some users reported losing control of the drone, leading to crashes or loss.

Fun Features and Performance

The LYOOGO S50 isn’t just about functionality—it’s also about fun. Features like 360° flips and FPV capabilities add excitement to the flying experience.

Pros:

  • 360° flips are easy to perform and impress onlookers.
  • FPV provides an immersive flying experience.
  • Compact design makes it suitable for both indoor and outdoor use.

Cons:

  • Limited power for advanced maneuvers.
  • Not ideal for professional-grade aerial photography.

Conclusion

The LYOOGO S50 Drone is a solid choice for beginners and casual flyers who want a feature-packed drone without breaking the bank. Its dual-battery setup, 1080P HD camera, and beginner-friendly features make it a great option for kids and adults alike. However, it does have some limitations, such as video latency, lack of obstacle avoidance, and slightly less flight time than advertised.

Final Verdict: If you’re looking for an affordable, fun, and easy-to-use drone for casual flying and basic aerial photography, the LYOOGO S50 is worth considering. It’s not perfect, but it offers excellent value for its price. For more advanced users or professionals, you might want to explore higher-end options.

The camera takes excellent photos and videos

So many features for a low price. The camera takes excellent photos and videos. Fun to fly and very durable.

My expectations for this were pretty low bit I wanted someone simple to get my son use to flying them

I have a bunch of different drones, including the $3K DJI Mavic 3 Pro Cine. My expectations for this were pretty low bit I wanted someone simple to get my son use to flying them. I figure if he crashes or damages this one it won't be a major loss, but thankfully he's done really well with this one. The battery lasts for longer than someone of my professional drones. The video quality isn't anything to call home about but for him he doesn't know any better. :)

When I gave it power it would fly off on its own

Never could get it into fine tuning. When I gave it power it would fly off on its own. I had no control over it and eventually watched it fly far away in the woods. Nothing I did would change its flight path. Lost forever. Probably my fault for not knowing what im doing. Nice drone I liked it while I had it.

First of all, the latency for video is very very slow

I've been on the fence about this drone, but the reality is that it doesn't really do more than a standard RC aircraft. First of all, the latency for video is very very slow. You cannot use the video on the phone to navigate. Second of all, the drone is very unstable and requires constant fine adjustments to remain stable. Very similar to an RC helicopter or similar. Third of all, it is lacking in enough power to perform the required maneuvering to prevent this from hitting trees etc. Since there is no obstacle avoidance, that means you will hit things. Overall, I'm not really sure of the point of this beyond RC aircraft. You can insert an SD card and film whatever is your doing, which is something, but not particularly useful. You get what you pay for.

The advertised 50-55 minutes seems a bit optimistic in real-world conditions, but I've consistently gotten around 40 minutes, which is still pretty good

This drone comes with two batteries, which is a big plus for extended flight time. The advertised 50-55 minutes seems a bit optimistic in real-world conditions, but I've consistently gotten around 40 minutes, which is still pretty good. The 1080P camera delivers a decent image for the price, suitable for casual aerial photography and videos. The FPV works well, allowing for immersive flying. The drone is fairly easy to control. The brushless motors provide good power and make the drone feel responsive. The 360° flip is a fun feature. I like that it comes with a carrying case, making it easy to transport. The drone feels relatively durable, having survived a few minor bumps.

My favorite is field flying, because I crash a ton! My drone is holding up to the abuse, though, not a ding in sight

This is my 3rd drone, and so far I'm giddy as can be. My favorite is field flying, because I crash a ton! My drone is holding up to the abuse, though, not a ding in sight. It feels like better quality than my last drone, and it definitely gives me more flying time. The extra battery was a thoughtful touch, because who doesn't want more fun? I'm not great at maneuvering, but I'm pretty sure it's a user issue. My sister handled it nice and steady, with zero experience flying. When I took her out there was a mild breeze and she handled it fine, I had all kinds of trouble. That being said, it is easier to keep this one in the air than others I've flown. The camera is a fun feature. I'm not very steady with it all, but I bet once I get better at piloting I'll get some quality footage. The video quality is better than I expected. I am so so thrilled with the low battery indicator! My first drone didn't have one, and my fun inevitably ended in a long trek to find it, always in some mucky bushes. It's hard to track the time when you're living out all your best flying dreams! It's so nice to get the warning in time to fly back, and avoid mucking around in mystery bushes. Overall this is a great toy to fly for a beginner like me, with enough battery power to really get in some action. It's held up well to my ineptitude and seems like it's well-made, small and lightweight but solidly built, and works great! There are enough bells and whistles to keep it exciting, and it's not super complicated to pick up. Great drone, seems like a good value to me, super fun way to spend some free time!
